Just in time for the hottest days of the season, PAPAL VISIT offer the most revealing peek yet at their upcoming full-length, Golden Grove.

The A side, 'It's Been Discontinued," is Pierre, Adam and the lads at their poppiest. The chugging three-chord progression, fueled by a nervy guitar performance from Chris Braydon, strikes a defiant tone. Over top Adam riffs on the basic elements of the old Circle Square Ranch TV show, a staple of Canadian children's television in the late 70's and early 80's. It is notable that Adam, although having written the lyrics to "It's Been Discontinued," doesn't remember actually having ever seen the show during the time of its original airing.

The B Side, the short folk song "What's That Sound at the Door?," features long-time PAPAL VISIT drummer Geoffrey Smith on distinctive backup vocals. Indebted equally to McCartney's ramshackle solo debut as Tobin Sprout's sparsest Guided by Voices contributions, it is a brief exploration in anxiety and agoraphobia, experienced during the coldest, and most claustrophobic, days of winter.
